Aloe spectabilis originates from Kwazulu-Natal in South Africa. This non hardy tropical  Zuid-Afrika succulent plant can be grown in our cold and wet climat indoors all year. Or in a pot outdoors in a hothouse. It's also a good houseplant. It needs a really good drainage, simular as a cactus or agave.

The adult plant has a stem covered with dryed out, old leaves and above this stem the new leaves grow. The new leaves can grow up to about 150 cm in lenght and are light grey - blue green in colour. The edges are serrated with chesnut coloured teeth. The flowers of this Aloe apear in the winter or spring. They are branches of  trusses of yellow - orange coloured little flowers. Non hardy perrenial.

    We happily accept returns within 14 days from date of delivery. All returns must be received in the same condition and packaging we sent them. Postage charges will not be refunded on unwanted products.

    You are solely responsible for ensuring the goods are returned to us. We will not be liable for returns that are lost in the post or lost for any other reason. If a product arrives damaged we will advise the customer how to return the item with all return costs covered by us.  Replacements & refunds will be dispatched / issued on receipt of the returned items only.

    It's possible to sow aloes indoors all year long. Sow shallow in a tray or pot filled with loose and moist soil. Use potting soil or a sell-made mix.  Aloes are light germinators, so they need light to germinate. Cover the seeds with a thin layer of soil. Cover the tray with a lid or some cling film to preserve the moisture. Put the seeds on a light and warm spot to germinate. To keep the temperature so equel as possible, use a heated propagator. Keep moist and weedfree. Aloes are known for a irregular germination, it can take months for the seedlings emerge. If nothing emerges in about 3 months. Start again with fresh new seeds and new soil. Watch out for molding.

    Aloes grow in nature on poor soil and in extreme drought, but they need some water and every month a good feed. Don't overwater the seedlings, but don't let the soil dry out completely. Keep water out of the rosettes. Be careful with the tips of the leaves, because they break easiliy and this can cause rotting. Transplant the plants in larger pots in may, when they're no longer any danger of frosts. Put the plants outdoors on a sunny and sheltered spot. Put the plants indoors in october for overwintering. Don't give any or a little bit of water in the winter, but don't let the soil dry completely out. Aloes can also be kept as houseplants.
